We recently completed the LEO Cavan Accelerate Programme with a number of established and some upcoming businesses in the Cavan region.
The programme was delivered over a six month timeframe comprising of seven workshops and six mentor consultations under the tutelage of Francis Verling, of Verling Consultants.
The aim of the Accelerate Management Development programme is to provide the owner/manager with the management, leadership, business skills and knowledge to achieve sustainability and growth in their business.
The programme was broken into six different modules as follows:
Why you’re in business?
Creating a vision for your business and a route map to achieving it.
Finding and Keeping Customers
Understand practical marketing and promotional tools and be able to use these tools effectively to sustain and grow your business.
How can my business do better?
Identify opportunities for innovation in your business.
Managing the Money
Understand your financial position and how to improve the profitability of your business.
Selling For Profit
Use the appropriate selling models for your business and therefore sell more effectively.
Being the Boss
Self-Management in order to achieve your business goals.
At the beginning of the modules there was an opportunity for all the participants to exchange ideas with their peers. This was a great help to ourselves, as getting another persons perspective on your business and indeed your current business practices can open your eyes to areas you may have neglected or had forgotten to enforce.
During the process we got to meet some wonderful people from different business sectors around County Cavan. Thanks to Alan & Lisa (Carroll Screens), Alan (Ciste Milis), Catherine (Charles Fay Drapers), Dessie (Dessie Duffy Car Sales), Liam (Rost H&S), Michelle (Make-up Love), Padraig (A&J Bedding) and Sean (Cavan Canoeing) for their positive contributions throughout the months, it was an absolute pleasure to work with you all.
Finally, thanks to Francis Verling for his expertise, patience and encouragement throughout the past six months and also to Cavan LEOs Marcella Rudden for her continued interest and support in our growing business. Going forward, we hope to continue to implement all we have learnt from the programme.
